Dear Baden-Wuerttemberg List Friends, Thanks to Paula for this additional bit of information concerning Ortsippenbuecher! It may be wise for us also to mention that NOT ALL German localities *have* Ortsippenbuecher, though many do. If your Baden-Wuerttemberg locality is not listed on the Web pages previously posted, it is entirely possible the particular place lacks such a book. If so, you may want to pursue finding your German family's genealogical information via the more traditional research avenue of LDS (Mormon) Library microfilm research for the locality in question. You'll want to learn if the vital records for the churches and/or civil registry office which served that German locality have been microfilmed by the LDS Family History Library and are thus available for research by you on the premises of your local LDS library branch. Check with your local LDS Family History Center (the official name for the LDS Library branches) for this information. Family History Centers can be located in the United States in the white pages of the telephone book under "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints." Select a local LDS church which indicates a "Family History Center" as part of its facility. Call for particular days and times of operation (as each branch is different in these), and then visit in person to look up the locality you are seeking on the LDS computer card catalog within the library branch. There is also a PARTIAL listing of LDS library branch facilities at the following Web site: http://www.lds.org/en/2_How_Do_I_Begin/4_Where_is.html If no library branch is listed at this site for your local area, please refer to the white pages, as mentioned above. If you are located outside of the United States, note that the LDS Family History Centers are available worldwide; see the above Web site for a partial list of those, as well. Please be aware that the list of branch locations at this Web site is NOT comprehensive.
