Records were kept for arriving immigrants (those who arrived at the port of *New York,* that is) at both. Arrival records which survived their era of origin have largely been microfilmed by the U.S. National Archives (NARA), which makes them available for research at their regional branches. (These include those from the port of New York as well as those for Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and others.) For information about the specific records NARA holds, see the following Web sites. [for a detailed list of arrival records microfilmed] http://www.nara.gov/publications/microfilm/immigrant/immpass.html [for general NARA information about genealogy & link to location list of regional branches] http://www.nara.gov/genealogy/ Hope this information is helpful to you!
