Most emigrated from Bremen or Hamburg, some from LeHavre, Antwerp, and Rotterdam. Mine from Stuttgart left Hamburg in 1881 for NYC. [The boat did stop in LeHarve for fuel]. My ancestor from Saxony Anhalt just east of Hanover left Bremen in 1886 for Balitmore. The following is a summary of emigration for Central and Eastern European.
