In Netscape's E-mail one can make umlaut vowels by holding down the "alt" key while typing the proper numbers on the number pad. (I have read instructions that say the number lock must be on, but on my keyboard it is not necessary to turn the number lock on.) I believe most E-mail servers will accept this way of writing umlauts in E-mail. Here are the ones that work in Netscape: umlaut a = alt 132 = ä umlaut A = alt 142 = Ä umlaut e = alt 137 = ë umlaut o = alt 148 = ö umlaut O = alt 153 = Ö umlaut u = alt 129 = ü umlaut U = alt 154 = Ü Try it, you'll like it!
